Taking it to another level!

Just like that old TV show The Jeffersons, I'm "moving on up!" Literally.  I'm taking my business to the 2nd floor, above the gym where I have been training for years, and we are creating something pretty cool.

After working for myself and by myself (for the most part) for the past 4 1/2 years, I am joining forces with a good friend and one of the best trainers I have ever had the pleasure of working with, Jon "Crash" Benne.  We are creating a sports performance center, which is going to be known as "Elevated Performance."

The space is 3200 sq ft on the mezzanine level in the Orthopedic facility (Orthopedic Associates) here in St. Louis, MO.  With this amount of space we are going to have plenty of room to expand our training, offer some classes, and do a whole lot of cool things in the realm of fitness, nutrition, and sports, which is something Jon and I have been dreaming of for a long time.

While we arecurrently in the middle of renovations and putting it all together, things are coming along nicely and we hope to have the majority of our equipment by the end of the week.

Jon's background is primarily in hockey and wrestling as an athlete, and his professional career has been primarily focused on sports performance, especially with hockey players both preofessional and amatuer.  Jon worked with the Blues for many years and has learned under some of the best trainers in the sports world.

Elevated Performance is going to be an elite fitness facility for athletes as well as anyone truly dedicated to achieveing a higher level of fitness and satisfaction in their performance and lifestyle.

We'll have some more pictures as we get our equipment and finish up the details, but for now, here's a little peak at some of the rehab process. . .

3 Simple Ways to Make Your Day Less "Active" and More "Productive"

Does your day revolve around "Activity" or "Productivity?" This is a question that is worth asking yourself.  Especially regarding your fitness routine. At first glance, the 2 words (Activity and Productivity) may seem to be synonymous with each other; and they can be, but in many situations, simple activity can be the furthest thing from productivity.

Plan of Attack

So my wife just got back from a 10 day trip to San Diego, leaving me and the kids to fend for ourselves while she was away having fun in the sun and some well deserved time with one of her best friends.  During this little experiment, I learned several very important life lessons.  The top two of these being:

A Lesson from "The Don"

When I use the term "The Don," I am not talking about Vito Corleone from The Godfather.  I am speaking of a man, who, in the world of St. Louis and Missouri golf, receives just about as much respect as Vito Corleone.  His name is Don Dupske.

If you don't know or know of Don, he is a 76 year old man that is a 4 handicap (recently moved from a 2 to a 4 after some health issues have curbed his game just a bit this summer) that still hits a ball a good 240 yards off the tee and has a silky smooth swing that a 30 year old man would kill for.

To Gatorade or Not to Gatorade

This is always a question in the gym, but it wasn't a question from my client that sparked this blog post.  It was my 4 year old son crying at a pool party this last weekend because he wanted to drink a "blue Gatorade" like the rest of the kids at the party.  As a dad, of course, you never want your kid to be the one crying at a party, but my wife and I both agree that we aren't big fans of our kids frequently drinking sports drinks, juice boxes, etc.
